JAAS is committed to promoting open access, a principle that ensures research is freely available to the public. By making its content accessible online without any financial barriers, JAAS supports a more equitable and inclusive global exchange of knowledge.
Under the open access policy, all manuscripts published in JAAS are freely available for anyone to read, download, copy, distribute, and utilize for various purposes. This unrestricted access eliminates the limitations that often hinder research dissemination, such as subscription fees or technical restrictions.
By adopting open access, JAAS contributes to a more democratic and transparent scholarly ecosystem. It enables researchers from diverse backgrounds and institutions to access and benefit from the latest research findings, fostering collaboration and innovation. Additionally, open access can increase the visibility and impact of research, as it allows for broader dissemination and citation.
While open access grants the public unrestricted access to research, it also safeguards the rights of authors. Authors retain control over the integrity of their work and the right to be properly acknowledged and cited. This balance between open access and author rights ensures that research is disseminated freely while protecting the intellectual property of its creators.
JAAS operates under a Creative Commons Attribution license, allowing the free reproduction of articles with proper citation. All authors publishing in JAAS agree to these terms. Our publishing practices adhere to ethical guidelines set by organizations such as DOAJ, OASPA, WAME, and ICMJE.
For special issues, the associate editor oversees the production process, while guest editors recommend potential reviewers for each submission. The timeline for the review process, including first submission, review, revision, second review, and final submission, is flexible and can be negotiated between the journal editor(s) and guest editors. Generally, reviewers have three months to submit their reviews. In the case of special issues, this timeframe may be extended to ensure comprehensive evaluation by a single reviewer for the entire issue.
